180 Green Class Ideas

We will continually add items here that you can implement into your classroom and school to allow the students the opportunity to learn about being green. This may be activities or simple suggestions to help get your class or school on the road to Green. Watch each week as we release another five "green" ideas for you.

Week #9:

Day 41: Have your school Adopt A Mile right around your school

Most towns have Adopt-A-Mile programs where groups can sponsor a section of raodway and be responsible for keeping it clean. This is also true for local beaches and lakes if you have one neighboring you. Keep your city clean and have your school and your school parents help keep your school area beautiful!

Day 42: Have one bulletin board in your school be devoted to monthly things kids can do to impact their environment in a positive way.

Day 43: Next to your "Green" Bulletin Board mentioned on Day 42, have a frame on the wall that can have picteures interchanged in it. Change out the pictures of students who are making a positive change for the environment in your school.

Day 44: Have a Environmental Poem-a-thon. Have the children vote for winners in several categories and then allow them to publish their work on the school website.

Day 45: Using Kerpoof or KidPix or Another digital art program, have the students draw what green means to them. Do not give them any hints or direction, just let them draw. Try this again after a unit on the environment and see if they draw something completely different.
